Projects in the Homoród Valley

Homorod Valley bakeryFlour mill and bakery

The first project was a response to the villagers in Okland, who said what they most wanted was to control their own bread. A flour mill was begun in Okland with the assistance of their partner church in Oakland, California. This led to the creation of the bakery, which produced 6000 loaves of bread a month at its maximum output. Although the bakery is no longer in operation, the flour mill remains available for village use.

Model dairy farm

The model dairy farm in Karacsonyfalva is intended to improve the quality and quantity of milk produced in the Homorod valley. The cooperative dairy farm began operations in October, 2001. Funds contributed through Project Harvest Hope helped pay for the barn, equipment and stock.

Women in econcomic development

Including women in economic development projects is essential to securing sustainable economic development. Harvest Hope pro Homorod, our local partner in the Homorod valley, has initiated a program to include women in their economic development projects in the valley.
